• What is layered art? Layered art allows you to move, edit, hide, lock, and work with content on one layer without affecting content on other layers.
  • What is the preferred format for art? We prefer vector art in EPS, PDF or AI file formats but we also accept layered PSD files and high res JPG and PNG files as long as they do not have template lines flattened to the art.
  • What is a template? A template is a guide designed for the production of art. It gives us guidelines to abide by so when it comes to producing the art nothing gets cut off, or left out.
  • How long does it take to create a card? Once we start working on the card under normal circumstances it will take 15-20 minutes. However that can change depending on what the job requires. This varies during our busy season.
  • What is turnaround time? Art room turnaround is 2-3 Days. This varies during our busy season.
  • What does 4 over 1 verses 4 over 4 mean4/1 means your card will print with a combination of 4 colors on the front of your card Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black (CMYK) AND then 1 color on the back which is black. 4/4 means your card will print with a combination of 4 colors on the front and the back of your card.
  • What is a PMS color? The Pantone Color Matching System is largely a standardized color reproduction system. By standardizing the colors, different manufacturers in different locations can all refer to the Pantone system to make sure colors match without direct contact with one another.
  • What does vector art mean? Vector art is a non pixel based piece of art that is fully editable and has no limits on size such as a logo and an example of Pixel based art is a flat image that is limited on size and editing.
  • What is flat artwork? Flat artwork is artwork that has no layers. All elements of the design are on one layer and cannot be edited in anyway.
  • Why can’t I send a link to my art, and why do I have to upload it to the FTP? The FTP allows us to receive large file sizes and protects us from viruses.
  • Why can’t we accept .zip files? Because .zip files can house unknown viruses. So we ask that you upload these types of files to our FTP so they can be better monitored.
  • Why can’t we duplicate your current design if you fax it to us ? We can duplicate your current design for an art fee, it depends on how long it takes. Faxed art is typically low res, and a lot of detail gets lost in the faxing process.
  • Is there an art fee if I send completed artwork? If you use the templates provided on our website correctly there will be no art charge because they will be set up for proofing and printing. However, we will charge a minimum of 17.50 for art that requires any editing to fit our needs.
  • Why do I have to name my FTP artIt makes it easier to search for the art in our FTP. Also, naming your file helps to make sure we do not pull the wrong art and prevents delays in turnaround time.
